Fine Tuning
All chips come pre-set for optimal power and economy so adjustment is not necessary: you can simply plug-in and enjoy! Not all vehicles will achieve Max figures when on a higher setting, most standard vehicles will achieve a power between After and Max figures. To fine-tune your system simply press the HIGH or LOW buttons on the keypad to make small incremental adjustments above or below the supplied setting, easy to do and fully explained in instructions supplied.

Unlike "generic" diesel tuning systems, this advanced, self fit chip will be programmed specifically to optimise your Dacia Sandero MK2 1.5 dCi. And because it works in conjunction with your on-board computer rather than altering it, all engine safety functions remain operational. What's more, the system can be easily unplugged, leaving no trace of fitment, returning your vehicle to factory standard at any time.
The CHIP Express™ system simply plugs in using connectors which are identical to those originally fitted by the manufacturer - there are no wires to cut, just follow the supplied photo-instructions for your specific engine and you'll have the job done in minutes. Once installed, you will immediately feel the transformation. You'll pull away with ease, climb hills effortlessly and enjoy extra reserves of power when you need them. Your whole driving experience will be enhanced thanks to the significant boosts in performance. You'll feel the improved acceleration, the cleaner, crisper throttle response and enjoy smoother gear changes – turbo lag and hesitation off the mark will be replaced by a faster, more linear and instantaneous delivery of performance; you'll also appreciate a reduction in engine noise. Improvements in torque will transform low end dynamics and allow you to keep RPM's down by holding taller gears while using less throttle for similar speeds, helping you save fuel. Vehicle manufacturers are forced to compromise when they set up the engine's ECU, to create vehicles which will operate in a wide variety of markets and conditions.
- Many countries, for example, impose emission controls which are far more rigorous than those we have in the UK.

I have a 2014 Dacia Sandero Stepway which is fitted with the Renault K9K 1.5dCi 89PS 220Nm engine which is also fitted to some Renault and Nissan vehicles. My previous car was a petrol turbo with 147PS and 210Nm torque so my new lack of power was obvious but as far as torque was concerned I was already 10Nm up in standard form. I had heard about diesel tuning boxes but have to admit I was extremely sceptical about them. Being an ex-racer and ‘old fashioned’ tuner I was used to increasing performance with cylinder head, camshaft, induction and exhaust modifications but as this car was my first diesel I was willing to try this ‘modern gizmo’. I ordered a Chip Express tuning box for my car which arrived the following day. Fitting instructions were comprehensive, easy to understand and tailored for my engine (not like a lot of generic instruction sheets you see). Actual fitting time was less than the time I took reading the instructions…it’s that easy however due to my OCD about engine bay tidiness I took a further 10 minutes making sure everything was neat, tucked away and tidy (but that’s just me). I left the jumpers set as supplied and the performance improvement was immediately noticeable as was the engine noise which was significantly reduced. The engine immediately felt livelier and the torque increase was impressive. It’s difficult to express on paper, you really have to feel it, however, there is a low speed steep hill which I travel up every day. Before ‘the box’ it was an asthmatic 2nd gear hill with the engine getting you there but don’t expect much more. Now, the car will easily pull up the hill in 2nd and will accelerate whilst doing so. That hill sold it for me and told me that the money was well spent. As far as fuel economy is concerned the engine is quite economical in standard form with 60mpg achievable however ‘the box’ made 70mpg easily achievable on my daily commute into London. I have a ScangaugeE device which shows, amongst other things, journey mpg. After a month or so the urge for more grabbed hold of me and following a quick email to the ever so helpful people at Chip Express I was assured that pushing the jumpers to the maximum would have no adverse effect on my engine. Within minutes of receiving that email I was under the bonnet and moving the jumper plug straight away to its maximum position (although I was told to do it in stages). All I can say is ‘impressive’. The hill I mentioned earlier is now a 3rd gear and accelerating hill AND crazy as you may think fuel economy has improved yet again and now 75-77mpg is achievable on my daily commute. The car is a lot more driveable with fewer gear changes and as a result a much more relaxed drive. All in all it’s a great bit of kit and I challenge anyone not to say they’re impressed by the increase in performance.
